Keepthinking London Internship!
This is my reason for being so quiet! A day after I finished at Proctor and Stevenson, in Bristol, I was off to London for my next internship. For the last month I’ve been interning for the digital company Keepthinking, in their London offices. Having no previous digital experience, it has been a whirlwind of a first month! I’ve learnt so much, and been included on such amazing projects, I feel extremely lucky to be a part of such wonderful work! I’ve designed for Prada, created websites for mobile phones, explored a whole new side to adobe and met some lovely people! It’s been incredible, and I cant express how much I’ve learnt in such a short space of time! I’ve loved every minute of it, and can’t wait to learn more!
Bring on the next two months!
Late shift at the national portrait gallery!
I had a wonderful time at the national portrait gallery on their Thursday evening late shift. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to see the Jonathan Yeo portraits as the gallery would be closed after I finished work (more about my new internship soon!) but luckily they keep the gallery open later on Thursdays and Fridays for working art lovers like myself!
I loved Jonathan’s portraits! They were completely stunning. His style of painting is so full of movement and colour, but considered and detailed when it needs to be. I spent nearly half an hour in the gallery just taking in each painting and admiring his work. Jonathan has become one of my favourite artists, and at the age of 42, he still has so much ahead of him! I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for the world!
I recommend anyone in London to go! The work is wonderful and the atmosphere of the gallery in the evening is completely different to the busyness of the day! I had a brilliant time, and will definitely be going back!
Ps. Sorry for the gap between posts! Getting back into the swing of working in London Town, and fitting everything in!
Lovely leaving card from @proctorsbristol had a wonderful three months interning! Thank you so much guys! Will miss you all!
I couldn’t talk about D&Ad, New Blood, and not show my self promotional item. After attending the event last year, I realized there was a huge need for bags, people walking round with handful’s of stuff, and having nothing to put them in. I decided this would be a great opportunity to promote myself! So using the Bravo Charlie Mike Hotel (BCMH) identity they designed for the D&Ad awards this year, I created the ‘DEAD’ keen D&AD bag, along with my details. The bag was a large success! Out of the hundred I made, I gave them all out over the three days, spotting people everywhere with my bag, and having a number of comments on it, it was even confused by the D&AD workers, who wondered if they had made them themselves! I’m so happy with the response the bag got, and now I just hope it works and has grabbed someone’s attention! If not, this is how I’ve kicked off my self promotion!
This week was easily one of the best and most exhausting I’ve ever had. After work on Monday, I made the journey to London for three days of D&Ad, New Blood goodness. It was amazing, we set up, got nominated for the best stand, and got to meet a huge number of inspiring and motivational people. There was such a wide and diverse range of illustration, motion and graphic design. It was so nice to see, and so exciting to be a part of. Even though I was exhausted by Thursday night, I’ve had a brilliant time, and didn’t want it to end! Here are a few photos of our stall, my work within our booth, and the general new blood atmosphere.
